Shhhhh……

I’m really excited about some of the handmade items that have blessed our home this Christmas.  With the multitude of shows and on-line orders that I had filling my plate this year, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to make a lot of my gifts.  But that’s okay, as I am constantly surrounded by handmade beauty each and every day thanks to Etsy.

I wanted to share a few of the awesome handmade items that I have bought for Christmas this year.. and a few that I have received!  I’m not saying who they are for… just in case 😉

Someone I know is going to be sporting these awesome earrings really soon!  SevenPly recycles broken skateboards into fun and beautiful jewelry.  I just adore her shop, and knew someone who would too!

I love these sock monkey cup cozies!  I have actually purchased two now, one as a birthday gift and one for a Christmas gift.  CrookedHookCreations has some of the cutest crochet items I have ever seen.  And these monkeys are perfect!

One of my favorite shops on Etsy is OrangeThyme.  Rachel makes some amazing smellies!  And I mean that in the best possible way!!  I’m looking forward to receiving this cute little soap in the mail soon.  Complicated Reindeer is the brainwork of both Rachel and her 6-year-old daughter.  A sweet-smelling soap with lots of red glitter…. just like Rudolph’s nose!  There is none of this magical soap in stock at this time, but let me assure you that there isn’t a bad product in this shop.  They are all amazing!

I was lucky enough to have an awesome Secret Santa this year through my Treasury Tree Team.  Erica of BisonGirl makes some adorable baby booties.  Here is an example of her work:

Owl Booties!

I haven’t fit into baby booties for quite some time now, but Erica found some awesome items from other Etsy sellers and had them sent to me.

TNTees is a shop after my own heart!  TNTees litterally stands for “Trash into Tees” and that’s exactly what Jenelle does.  She makes  gorgeous jewelry, adorable clothing and functional and fun items out of recycled t-shirts.  You can see why I love this shop so much!  I just love my new produce bags 🙂

I was also fortunate to receive 2 amazing items from DirtyDeedsSoap from my secret Santa.  The lavender soap smells so lovely, and the Chocolate Truffle Lip Balm is absolutely heavenly.  I don’t know how Erica knew that I was a soap addict, but I want to thank her and DirtyDeeds  for helping fuel my addiction 😉

Chocolate Truffles for your lips!

I most likely will be too busy to blog the next few weeks, so I wanted to leave you all with my Christmas wish….

I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season!  Bless you all and I will see you in 2012!

Peacock Bullet Earrings are back!

I recently renewed my listing for my “Pretty Peacock Salvaged Bullet and Chain” earrings after they were featured in the Etsy finds last Friday.  They sold right away!  Now, I’m offering a chance to get your hands on these gorgeous earrings in case you missed the first opportunity.

I have a pair for myself that are a bit shorter and without the chain, and I get a ton of compliments on them!  They are stunning earrings!!

But hurry!  I have a limited number of peacock feathers left, and all feathers have increased in value since the last time I purchased them.  I don’t know how long I can keep them at this price!

The “Beautiful Outlaw” Earrings

I just posted these gorgeous earrings last night.  Made from salvaged 9mm bullet casings, these earings make repurposing look GOOD!

Plus, no only are the bullets “recycled”, but the pieces of chain are salvaged excess pieces from previous projects – too small to use… up until now!  Talk about Eco-Fabulous!!

I’m thinking that I may need to keep a pair of these beauties for myself.  And while I’m at it… I may just need some boots to go with!

Preparing for Valentine’s Day

I have been really busy preparing for Valentine’s Day!  Besides adding some new, valentine-themed items to my Etsy shop, I have also been decorating my home for the holiday.  Yes, I decorate for Valentine’s Day!

My favorite “decorations” that I adorn my living room with in preparation for February 14th are some vintage “Valentines” that once belong to my grandfather and great-grandmother.  I only have 4, but I have them in protective frames and display them on my mantel every year.  My favorite is this sweet, but small, heart-shaped valentine that was addressed to “Frankie”… otherwise known as my grandfather Frank.

It is just too sweet!!

I also have a Valentine that was from my Great-Grandmother addressed to my Great-Great-Grandmother.  What treasures!

Here are a few photos items that I have recently created and listed in my Etsy Shop.

And there will be more to come!

Eco-Friendly in Eastern Washington

Welcome to my first “feature” blog!  I am really excited to talk about other creative people besides myself for a change!  And I couldn’t have picked a better group to select from for my first attempt at this.

I am part of a team of sellers on Etsy from the Eastern Washington Area.  We have an amazing group of talented artisans, many of whom are very eco-conscious.  So as part of my Earth Day resolution, I have selected a small sample of some of the wonderful Eco-Friendly products made from members in my group.

This bag made by Leanna is made from eco-friendly handmade fabric.  She uses almost all of her scrap fabric from other projects and incorporates them into her purses.  “I throw away less than 1 pound of fabric in a years time”.

You can find this purse (and others) in Leanna’s shop http://www.bitsandpurses.etsy.com

Besides making the most gorgeous paper flowers, Randi from Ragnazldnar makes these very cool upcycled writing journals/sketchbooks and cashier journals.  This journal is one of a kind and made from a vintage hardback book.

Can you believe the earrings below are partially upcycled?  These gorgeous earrings made my Malerie from Postscriped are made from czech glass beads and upcycled antique brass chain.  Such a beautiful mix of old and new!

You can see more of Malerie’s designs at http://www.etsy.com/shop/postscripted.

This is just a handful of earth-friendly sellers on Etsy (and just a handful in my group).  I will be featuring more eco-conscious sellers in the weeks to come!  Stay tuned!
